Problem: A Disappearing Language
Solution B is the new media solution. Distributing technology to a large number of people and fostering collective, unexpected cooperation is what really makes this solution the “many to many” that defines a new media approach. It’s also a platform that is more open to grow beyond its originally conceived notions and to have a larger impact than was originally intended. This solution works outside of what people have come to expect from projects that set out with similar goals but different strategies.
Problem: Neglected Ruins
Solution B is the new media solution. Solution A does a standard documentary that only occurs once, and doesn’t change and evolve as conditions adapt. Whereas solution B allows for a continually growing body of knowledge as well as up-to-date information from different people. Additionally, it also builds a framework that allows people to move beyond the original scope of the project into “new” ruins as they develop. It seems problematic to have people physically change the environments, but perhaps if it gives them new life and interest through such actions its a worthy cause.
Problem: Misunderstanding Computer Animation
I feel that both solutions aren’t really many to many. While both provides useful experiences, I believe solution A would be more effective at solving the problem. Neither of the solutions really do the hallmark “many-to-many” that you would expect from a new media solution. I feel like both could use work honestly.
Problem: A Broken Fountain
Solution A is the new media solution. It isn’t really necessary for a new media solution to be technology oriented. While the internet and mobile technology certainly helps as a platform for making many-to-many connections it is in no way required. The solution connects a large number of people, and involves the community in a public space, connecting them all in a way that was previous not being done.
